Biography of Pastor Paul Adewunmi

Pastor Paul Adewunmi

Pastor Paul Adewunmi, the Assistant Provincial Pastor of The Redeemed Christian Church of God, Lagos Province 14, has led an extraordinary life marked by faith, perseverance, and the transformative power of God. Born on September 25, 1965, in Abeokuta, Ogun State. Pastor Paul's early years were shaped by poverty and the absence of his father, who passed away when he was just two years old. Despite these challenging circumstances, he found solace in his mother's industriousness and the moral values she instilled in him and his siblings.

Growing up, Pastor Paul had dreams of becoming a professional footballer, aspiring to play for the national team, the Super Eagles of Nigeria. However, fate had other plans for him. After obtaining a job at the Ogun State Broadcasting Corporation and working there for 12 years, Pastor Paul experienced a life-altering encounter that led him to embrace pastoral work. In 1991, during the Morning Prayer at the Christ Apostolic Church in Ijebu-Ode, he fell into a trance and had a vision of the moon and a handsome man accompanied by a retinue of angels. This divine encounter propelled him to become 'an instrument in God's hand,' and he embraced Christianity wholeheartedly.

The decision to become a pastor was not an easy one, particularly considering Pastor Paul's Muslim background. However, he followed the call from God and embarked on a journey of faith that would reshape his life. He became a Pastor in 1998, under the guidance of Pastor Sunday Iyunade, the General Overseer of Pentecostal Ministry, and later joined The Redeemed Christian Church of God, where he serves as an Assistant Provincial Pastor.

Pastor Paul's conversion to Christianity was met with resistance and challenges from his family and the wider community. His mother, who was deeply rooted in Islam, initially struggled to accept his new faith. However, as she witnessed the wonders of God's work in his life, her skepticism turned into acceptance. Despite facing numerous obstacles and undergoing personal tribulations, Pastor Paul remained steadfast in his commitment to God and his calling.

As a pastor, Pastor Paul is known for his unwavering dedication to his congregation and his strong moral compass. He takes a proactive approach to avoid the pitfalls that often befall pastors, particularly in regards to temptations from women. By adhering to strict guidelines and always having a group of pastors present during counseling sessions, he ensures that his interactions with female members of his congregation remain transparent and focused on spiritual matters.

Over the years, Pastor Paul's unwavering service to God has been rewarded with blessings and prosperity. He firmly believes that God is a God of abundance and that prosperity is not inherently sinful. He cites examples such as Bishop David Oyedepo, who received a divine mandate to liberate the world from poverty, and his own spiritual father, Pastor Adeboye, as evidence that prosperity and spirituality can go hand in hand.

In his personal life, Pastor Paul found a life partner who shares his faith and supports his ministry. Through divine guidance and a seven-day dry fast, he met his wife, who had already received a message from God that she would marry a pastor. Their relationship flourished, and despite the challenging early years when Pastor Paul was living in a church and had no material possessions, their bond grew stronger. Together, they have experienced the joys and trials of marriage and have been blessed with four children.
